Congratulations and thank you, first of all, to all the students who presented on their research plans, thesis findings or literature critiques at our second, annual Cairnmillar Institute Research & Practice Conference on Friday 16 November.
The quality of both oral and poster presentations was excellent, and the range of topics reflected well the scope and depth of the research culture at the CMI.
Thank you, as well, to all who came along as audience members: students, academics, clinicians, professional staff and HREC members. Your support and contribution to the many interesting discussions of the day is greatly appreciated.
All presentations were assessed by multiple staff members on the day, toward the selection of ‘best presentation’ in each cohort category. All the presentations were judged to be of an excellent quality, and all presenters were highly commended. In fact, it was impossible to separate two of the presentations in the Honours cohort, and so we have dual best presentation winners in that category. The cohort prize-winners, each receiving a Coles-Myer voucher and award certificate, are as follows:
Graduate Diploma of Psychology (completing) – Best research report
Ania Gerngross
Gerngross, A.; Francis, A. The Mediating Role of Parental Divorce on Childhood Adversity and Borderline Symptomatology. (Poster)
AND
Hannah Rhodes
Rhodes, H. Clarke, M. Appearance, Online Identity, and Normative Masculinity: An Exploratory Qualitative Study of Young Australian Men’s Perspectives. (Oral)
Clinical Masters – Best research report or plan
Rebecca Strange
Strange, R., Mills, J., Clarke, M. Exploring young women’s lived experiences of social norms when eating with others. (Poster)
Doctor of Psychology – Best research report or plan
Anna Murphy

Well done and congratulations to each of you, and your supervisors!
Some of you are leaving us this year, and we wish you all the best with your future endeavours. For those of you continuing with us in 2019, we look forward to your participation in our conference next year.
